Free Aquarium near Los Angeles‼️
✨ Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is located in San Pedro. Previously, parking was free, but now there is an artificial fee system. The staff will ask you how long you will be parking, and it costs $1 per hour. They only accept Credit/Debit cards, not cash.
⚠️ Important!!! No admission fee! It's a great place to take kids without having to buy tickets! However, there are staff members at the entrance who will ask if you would like to make a donation. There are suggested donation prices for adults and children at the entrance. It is not mandatory, it's a voluntary choice. If you don't want to donate, just politely say so and you can enter.
✨ The aquarium is not particularly large (after all, it's free), but it has everything you would expect. It's enough for kids to have fun! In addition to various marine creatures, there are many specimens for children to observe, and there is a small area specifically for children to play (puzzles, drawing), as well.
✨ In the afternoon, around 3-4 pm, there is an opportunity to touch the underwater creatures (anemone, sea urchin, starfish ~ for sharks, you can only observe, not touch). The touch area is open for about 20 minutes.
✨ After you're done, you can walk through the parking lot and there is a beach behind it. There are swings and slides for kids to play! We noticed that the sand on the beach is fine and clean (in comparison to other beaches). However, the water near the coastline is a bit dirty.
But the kids had a great time!
