In the 20th century, which work of art had the greatest influence? Some might immediately think of Pablo Picasso's famous painting "The Young Girl with Apple". No! It is Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain" that changed the course of art history. This is the work that was chosen by 500 prominent figures from the global art community as having had the greatest impact on art history: "What is art? Art is what you piss on." A lot of museums all over the world have replicas of this little urinal in their collections and almost every replica has been praised by artists (with a grin): "That's where it all began--Duchamp himself said that it was his choice, it was an invitation for us to make something out of it." Another pissing artist put it this way: PMA sees this replica of a urinal now and then understands what art really is: an opportunity to piss on things! There are now so many strange art movements that it is almost impossible to understand what so-called "Dadaism" is about; now it can be said that those who say "Dada" are all wet. Duchamp also made another famous piece called“Nu descendant un escalier n° 2”
