A bridge awakens a city.

During a short break, I visited London Bridge in Arizona. Along the way, I encountered numerous yachts sailing on the Colorado River underneath the bridge. Both sides of the bridge were filled with hanging locks, placed by couples or married couples.

Not far downstream from Bullhead City, the Colorado River is cut off by Parker Dam, forming a reservoir called Lake Havasu. Along the lake stands a green oasis in the desert called Lake Havasu City. This city is home to the iconic London Bridge, also known as the "Town Bridge". Originally situated over the River Thames in London, the bridge was completed in the 1830s. Its nearly 300-meter length and five spans were quite impressive at the time, symbolizing the glory of the British Empire.

I had previously heard that this was the bridge featured in the movie "An Affair to Remember" (although, after some research, I found that it is not this bridge, but rather another one called the Waterloo Bridge). A bridge that transcends time and space. When the movie was released in the 1940s, the bridge still spanned the River Thames, but it has since been painstakingly disassembled and reassembled in this desert oasis. A retired London Bridge was purchased at an auction by an American oil tycoon, who shipped it piece by piece on a cargo ship to his newly developed city, which had a population of less than two thousand at the time. Later, this city successfully attracted settlers and began to flourish. It can be said that this bridge not only connects the town, but also contributes to the prosperity of this desert oasis.

As I stood on London Bridge, looking down at the river, I saw numerous blue-colored boats gracefully gliding along the water. This place has been preparing for the dry and hot summer since April.
