✨ I had work in the afternoon, so I took advantage of the morning gap to quickly visit The Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung's Pier-2 Art District. Located along the Love River, Pier-2 is an art park that spans Kaohsiung City's Yancheng District and Gushan District, aiming to create an art platform with the concept of "avant-garde, experimental, innovative".
🎈 Similar to Beijing's 798, Pier-2 was originally a Kaohsiung port warehouse, built in 1973, used for storing fishmeal and sugar. With the industry transformation, it was once forgotten and left idle. In 2000, in search of a place to set off fireworks, the old warehouses were revived and given a new life, witnessing the prosperity, decline, resurgence, and transformation of Kaohsiung port. The warehouse is located at the second wharf of Kaohsiung port, its name "Pier-2" implies continuity and inheritance.
💥 The park is dotted with a large number of cute, avant-garde, large "figures" modeled after workers and fisherwomen (local industries and fisheries). The painted patterns on these figures document the local scenery and cultural features of Kaohsiung, and are part of a series called "Kaohsiung People are Here".
🌈 There are many spots worth visiting and photographing in the park, perfect for a leisurely walk and photo session.
