If you're going to Ta'er Monastery, my travel guide is all you need‼️Avoid stepping on landmines💥
This is one of the six major monasteries of the Gelug sect (also known as the Yellow sect) of Tibetan Buddhism and the birthplace of Master Tsongkhapa. The pagoda (gold pagoda wrapped in silver) existed before the monastery. The monastery was then built by Tsongkhapa in response to his mother's longing for him, as she would wait for her son under the Bodhi tree.
✨Three great art treasures: murals, sculptures made of colored butter, and butter flowers.
🎫 Entrance fee: In peak season (April-October), adult tickets are 70 yuan. During off-peak season, adult tickets are 40 yuan. Note that entrance is free for residents of Nanjing.
🚗Transportation: Xining Railway Station🚉 to Ta'er Monastery – Bus No.909 runs directly (ticket price is 4 yuan) and the journey takes about one and a half hours.
If you drive, make sure! Make sure! To navigate to the Tibetan Hospital in Huangzhong District (if you just search Ta'er Monastery directly, you will have to pay extra for a shuttle), and park at the entrance of the Ta'er Monastery parking lot.
🏨Accommodation: Our charter driver is a local man. He recommends hotels like Viena Hotel, Lihao Hotel, and Buddha Light Hotel. They are part of hotel chains, and therefore, relatively more reliable. However, they are all close to Ta'er Monastery, and dining options nearby are limited. You would need to take a cab or drive to the monastery. If you want somewhere closer, you can opt for Xining Huangcheng Holiday Hotel, though it's rather simple.
🥩Food: Ta'er Monastery is located in Huangzhong District, which is actually just a small county. But in this small county, I tasted the most delicious roasted lamb on my entire Northwest ChinaTour.
