🏰 The Royal Palace of Versailles | Palace of Versailles 🇫🇷
📍Located in the outskirts of Paris, France, it is one of the world's top five palaces, alongside the Forbidden City, the Kremlin, the White House, and Buckingham Palace.
👑It was once the most magnificent residence of the French Empire and remains one of the most luxurious palaces in the world.
🔍About its history:
On October 6, 1789, Louis XVI was taken by the people to the city of Paris, marking the end of the Palace of Versailles as a royal residence. During the subsequent period of the French Revolution, the palace was looted multiple times by the public. The furniture, wall paintings, tapestries, chandeliers, and other furnishings in the palace were all stolen, and the palace's doors and windows were smashed and dismantled. In 1793, the remaining artworks and furniture in the palace were all transferred to the Louvre. The Palace of Versailles remained in ruins for 40 years until King Louis-Philippe of the House of Orléans restored and transformed it into a historical museum in 1833.
