To get to Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan - the middle section of the Jinsha River - you need to start from Zhang Laoshi's Guesthouse.
Zhang Laoshi's Guesthouse offers two routes to get there:
1. Take the dirt trail down. The road maintenance fee is 15 yuan per person.
2. Take the 168 Brave Steps down. The ladder maintenance fee is 10 yuan per person (this route is not recommended for descending, only for ascending).
Both routes recommend taking the smaller trail down and challenging yourself by taking the 168 Brave Steps on the way up (if you have a fear of heights, it's advisable to take the smaller trail for the round trip).
