I went to Chang'an Twelve Hours last week and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed. Here are a few suggestions to make your experience more enjoyable:
1. Firstly, Chang'an Twelve Hours is an indoor activity and performance, so there's no need to save it for the evening. Personally, I feel that going to the Tang Paradise at night would be a better choice.
2. The venue is divided into three levels. Most of the performances and snacks are located on the basement level. The ground level mainly consists of scenic spots for photography and Hanfu makeup stores. The second level features the Tang Feast restaurant, which offers themed banquets in 26 private rooms.
3. Make sure to check out every performance inside. If you happen to miss one, don't worry, as the performances are repeated throughout the day, usually around three times. You can follow the official WeChat account to get the schedule, as the ticket prices are quite high.
4. If you want to fully immerse yourself in the experience, I highly recommend doing the Hanfu makeup. It's a lot of fun for taking photos and getting into character. Moreover, each NPC inside the venue has their own story, so feel free to interact with them and complete quests. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to finish all the quests when I went. If you're a fan of Hanfu, I strongly suggest wearing your own outfit for a more authentic experience. The photos turn out really amazing. However, if you're just interested in exploring and not particularly into Hanfu, the overall experience may be mediocre. The ticket prices are relatively high, and most of the performances consist of singing and dancing, which are quite short. The venue also has many shops and snack stalls, which are mostly commercial in nature.
