Le Sacré-Coeur | Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris
📍35 Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, 75018 Paris
The Sacré-Coeur Basilica is located on the Montmartre Hill. Due to the relatively low buildings in Paris, the Basilica can be seen from many places in the city, and from here, you can also enjoy a panoramic view of Paris. It is the second highest point in Paris after the Eiffel Tower and is a wonderful viewpoint.
⛪️ The architecture of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica is unique, combining elements of both Romanesque and Byzantine styles. It was built in 1876 and completed in 1919. On both sides of the large dome, there are equestrian statues depicting Saint Louis, the king of France, and Saint Joan of Arc, the national heroine.
🛐 I really love Montmartre Hill. Below the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, there is a carousel that has been in operation for many years and is still running. Those who have seen the movie "Amélie" will be familiar with the scene of the carousel in the movie.
🌟 You can climb up to the Basilica from the bottom or take the inclined elevator located nearby. You can use your metro card or metro ticket to ride it. It is a nice experience. The entrance of the Basilica is often crowded with people who come to admire the beautiful scenery of Paris, soak up the sun, and there are also street performers. However, be aware that there are some black vendors here who may try to sell you things, and there may be pickpockets, so be cautious. Montmartre is indeed beautiful, but the security is not good, so it's better not to come at night.
