🌍🇮🇹 Vatican Travel Guide | Explore the World's Smallest Country in 3 Hours 🌄
🏛️ Located within the city of Rome, Vatican City, the smallest country in the world, can be visited in half a day to explore the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. It is truly awe-inspiring! Due to our limited time, we had to rush through the museums, but for those who are interested, I highly recommend spending a whole day here and remember to look up as the dome frescoes are absolutely spectacular! 🎨
In short: No need to bring your passport, book tickets on the official website, and if tickets are not available, you can book them on the GetYourGuide website to skip the lines! Chinese audio guides are available for rent at the second-floor entrance hall.
Transportation: Use Google Maps and search for Vatican City. Many buses can take you directly nearby, or you can take the metro. I recommend getting off on the east side of the river, passing by Castel Sant'Angelo, and walking all the way to St. Peter's Square.
Ticket Booking: We booked our museum tickets on the GetYourGuide website, which saved us several hours of waiting in line. It cost 94 AUD for two people without a guide. Choose a time slot when booking, and arrive at the ticket checkpoint 10 minutes in advance (you won't be allowed in if you're too early or too late). The ticket checkpoint can be found by searching "Musei Vaticani" on the map, at the northernmost point of Vatican City.
Chinese Audio Guide: It is definitely worth renting one. You can find the rental area on the second floor of the entrance hall, right above a large staircase. They offer Mandarin/Chinese audio guides for 8 euros each. Bring a pair of wired headphones so two people can share one audio guide.
