Pho Lantern Cafe in Orange County is a must-visit place for me every one or two weeks.
Pho is definitely a must-order dish. I always feel amazed by the taste of their noodles until the very last bite. The broth is clear and not greasy, with the perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness. The noodles are also well-seasoned. Many other places have flavorful broth but bland noodles, but this place consistently delivers delicious flavors. The meatballs and beef tendon as toppings have a great texture and taste. For girls, I recommend ordering a small portion because the serving size is huge!
Their broken rice with pork chop is superb. Mix the rice with a bit of fish sauce, and I can't resist stealing bites from my husband's plate.
Another must-order dish is the shrimp spring rolls, which you wrap with lettuce and dip into the sauce. They are incredibly fragrant and not greasy at all. Once you start eating them, you won't be able to stop.
If you've had enough pho and want to try something different, you can order the rice vermicelli. Although the vermicelli itself doesn't have a strong flavor, it tastes delicious and aromatic when mixed with different types of meat. You can customize the mix based on your preferences.
