🌸 Seasonal Delights: A Guide to Four Seasons Roast Duck 🍗
Because I will be taking my out-of-town friends for a food adventure in Beijing, I did some research on how to avoid queuing at Four Seasons Roast Duck. I discovered that they have a mini-program for booking and queueing in advance. I specifically made a reservation at the Dongsi Shitiao branch, which is said to be the best. I arrived at 11 am to get my queue number and was seated at 1:35 pm (you can use this as a reference).
Recommended Dishes:
1️⃣ Beijing Roast Duck
We ordered one duck for three people, which was just the right amount. The duck carcass was made into a soup. Beijing Roast Duck is simply irresistible and a must-try when family and friends visit Beijing. The crispy duck skin is aromatic and melts in your mouth.
2️⃣ Honey Glazed Crispy Prawns
The prawns were huge! They were meticulously cleaned, and even the prawn heads were taken care of. Fresh large prawns were coated with a honey glaze and deep-fried until golden and crispy. The combination of tender and juicy prawn meat with the crispy coating creates a delightful texture and a sweet and savory flavor, somewhat reminiscent of sweet and sour pork or sweet and sour ribs.
3️⃣ Stir-Fried Pea Shoots
This dish has a sweet and sour flavor, which helps balance the richness of the roast duck and honey-glazed dishes. It's a popular choice for every table. The pea shoots have a crispy and refreshing texture, and don't worry, they don't have a strong "green" taste. The dish offers a flavor that appeals to a wide range of palates.
4️⃣ Special Duck Pastry: This delicate dessert features a date paste filling that is not overly sweet. Each pastry is shaped like a little duck, creating a cute and tasty treat.
Friendly tips: When you first sit down, they will serve a fruit platter, and if it's not enough, you can ask the staff for more. Also, I recommend not crowding on the first floor while waiting. In fact, the second floor has small stools for seating.
